Mueller continued the form she showed in winning gold at last month's World Championships with a dominant victory in the KL1 200 metres final.

She finished almost two seconds clear of home paddler Alexandra Dupik, while Poland's Kamila Kubas took bronze.

“The season started really well at the World Championships, which was a great feeling, because I fell into the water one hour before the race," Mueller said afterwards.

"At the start line I didn't think I could do it. It is just a good feeling I still did it, that I could still have a good race.

“I really like this regatta course in Moscow.

"It was a very fast race, I'm just really happy that it went well here and to have a good race."

Markus Mendy Swoboda of Austria won the men’s KL2 200m final with a big gap to Italy's Federico Mancarella and Dejan Fabčič of Slovenia.

Local favourite Lenoid Krylov of Russia claimed gold in the men’s KL3 200m event ahead of Germany's Tom Kierey and France's Martin Farineaux.

Hungary's Robert Suba triumphed in the men's KL1 200m event.

France's Remy Boulle and Belarus' Andrei Tkachuk were second and third respectively.

Russia's Nadezda Andreeva crossed the finish line in KL2W 200m final ahead of her compatriot Rimma Egorkina and Israel's Pascale Bercovitch.

Her team-mate Larisa Volik claimed a second home win in the VL3W 200m event ahead of Spanish rival Maria Calvo.
