Competition at the Utah sliding venue, used for the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics, will begin tomorrow with the first event in Para-seated bobsleigh and Para-skeleton.

The second event will then take place on Wednesday (November 23).

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) provisionally approved the inclusion of bobsleigh for Beijing 2022 at a meeting in Rio de Janeiro in September.

The application for skeleton to be included on the programme was not successful though, due to the sport "not fulfilling a number of the criteria needed".

American Eric Eierdam is the defending men's Para-skeleton World Cup champion, and he also won the gold medal at the first edition of the World Championship held in Park City in March.

"It's the first runs of the season so you are getting all the jitters out," said Eierdam after practice runs on the course.

"It took some taps on the walls but I cleaned it up a little bit.

"I got a little cleaner and a little smoother so hopefully we will continue to progress."

Canada's Lonnie Bissonnette is the defending men's Para-seated bobsleigh World Cup champion, as well as the World Championship gold medallist.
