World ParaVolley are to hold a series of sitting volleyball courses in Costa Rica next month to attract more officials to the sport.

The courses are to be held in partnership with ParaVolley Pan America and the Costa Rican Volleyball Federation (FECOVOL).

A level one referee course will be held during the week in the capital city San Jose, with the event scheduled from February 23 to 26.

Coach and classifier level one courses will also take place, with participants in the latter required to be doctors or physiotherapists with three years formal experience.

Organisers have stated that the courses will be taught in both English and Spanish.

The courses come at a cost of $400 (£318/€373), but ParaVolley have offered to subsidise half of the cost in a special rate.

The fee covers the participant’s accommodation, meals and transport from hotel to venue from dinner on February 22 to lunch on February 26.

The participants, their National Paralympic Committee or National Federations are responsible for the costs of transport to and from Costa Rica, as well as the entry visa and exit tax.

Registration and payments must be made by February 7.
