The Wheelchair Doubles Masters, the ITF's flagship tournament in the doubles format of the sport, is heading to Bemmel, with dates yet to be confirmed.

Apeldoorn will stage next year's World Team Cup, considered the Davis Cup or Fed Cup of wheelchair tennis.

Both are located in the Dutch province of Gelderland.

"We are delighted that the UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters and BNP Paribas World Team Cup will both return to Netherlands, which has such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable wheelchair tennis following and a rich tradition of hosting the sport’s leading championships," ITF President David Haggerty said.

"It ls also home to some of the most celebrated players in the history of the sport."

The two competitions will be organised by the Dutch Tennis Federation (KNLTB).

Apeldoorn is set to become the fourth Dutch city to host the World Team Cup, which was previously staged in Roermond in 1995, Groningen in 2005 and Alphen in 2014.

The next edition of the Wheelchair Doubles Masters will be the third to take place in The Netherlands, following in the footsteps of Amersfoort, which hosted the event from 2000 to 2002, Amsterdam, which staged the 2011 and 2012 competitions.

"As one of the leading nations in wheelchair tennis, the KNLTB feels a responsibility to host the largest wheelchair tennis events in the Netherlands," KNLTB chief executive Erik Poel said. 

"This way we hope to continue to increase the popularity of wheelchair tennis for people with and without a disability. 

"Furthermore, our own national heroes can show what they are capable of in front of their home fans."

The Netherlands are one of the most successful countries in wheelchair tennis and they won gold and silver in the women's singles and doubles at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro last year.
