Triple Paralympic champion Veronika Vadovicova began the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup season with gold in Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.

The Slovakian, who won two gold medals at Rio 2016 in September, clinched victory in the R3 mixed 10 metre air rifle prone SH1 competition.

She eased through qualification and then won the final with a score of 254.8.

A new format for finals - where two five shot series are contested instead of a three shot series - is debuting this season.

As a result Vadovicova's total was a new world record as the total number of shots has been raised to 24.

Germany's Rio 2016 silver medallist Natascha Hiltrop was second with 252.2, with France's Cederic Fevre third with 229.3.
