The US won gold medals in both the men’s and women’s competitions at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

They beat Spain in the men’s final and Germany in the women’s final.

Hamburg was announced as the host of the 2018 World Championships in October of last year.

The world's best players will compete for global crowns between August 17 and 26 at the Wilhelmsburger Inselparkarena.

A total of 16 men's teams and 12 women's teams will compete in all, with the German bid beating off competition from Dubai, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
