After her meltdown yesterday in the Oslo snow, Germany’s Laura Dahlmeier did not miss her chance to claim an International Biathlon Union (IBU) crystal globe today.

In the sprint race, Dahlmeier suffered her worst result of the campaign with her 31st finish handing rival Gabriela Koukalová of the Czech Republic the World Cup title in that discipline.

However, she made amends today in the 10 kilometre pursuit today.

Despite only finishing 11th in the race, Dahlmeier’s result was good enough to give her the pursuit crystal globe.

Finland’s Mari Laukkanen picked up her second stage victory in as many days as she clocked a time of 29 min 33.3sec.

Koukalová was 26.5sec behind in second place, the same spot she ended up in the pursuit standings, while France’s Justine Braisaz completed the podium.

In the men’s 12.5km pursuit, Russia’s Anton Shipulin had just one penalty mark against his name to finish ahead of the rest.

His time of 32:11.9 was 5.7 quicker than France’s Martin Fourcade, who had already earned the pursuit crystal globe.

Johannes Thingnes Boe of Norway finished third 21.6 behind Shipulin.

The IBU World Cup season will come to a close tomorrow when the men’s 15km mass start, which will begin after the women’s 12.5km mass start.
