The United States’ Chris Corning won the final International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Slopestyle race of the season in Czech town Spindleruv Mlyn today as compatriot Redmond Gerard clinched the discipline’s overall title.

Corning triumphed in the 10-man final with a best score of 92.34 points, beating nearest challenger Fridtjof Tischendorf of Norway by a margin of 5.14 and Great Britain’s Jamie Nicholls in third by a further 0.80.

Gerard’s seventh-place finish ensured he topped the World Cup standings with 2,460 points.

Nicholls was the runner-up on 2,040 points, followed by Canada’s Mark McMorris on 1,600.

In today’s women’s event, 16-year-old Zoi Sadowski Synnott of New Zealand dominated proceedings with 87.32 points.

Canada’s Spencer O’Brien came second with 81.22 while Germany’s Silvia Mittermueller was third with 73.40.

The US’s Jamie Anderson, who did not compete in Spindleruv Mlyn, was crowned the overall World Cup winner with 2,400.

Compatriot Julia Marino finished second on 2,215 points after coming 24th today.

Austria’s Anna Gasser completed the top three with 2,200 points.

There was a double snowboard cross World Cup success for France in Veysonnaz in Switzerland today as Pierre Vaultier and Charlotte Bankes won the respective men’s and women’s events. 

Olympic and world champion Vaultier won the men’s big final ahead of the US’s Alex Deibold and Australia's Alex Pullin to claim the overall World Cup title. 

Finishing in fifth place behind Canada’s Kevin Hill was Italy’s Omar Visintin, who dropped to second in the overall World Cup standings behind Vaultier.

Vaultier finished on 4,450 points, which was 530 more than Visintin. 

In the women's event, Bankes secured her first win of the season ahead of World Cup winner Eva Samkova of the Czech Republic.

Italy’s Michela Moioli rounded out the podium to move in front of Australia's Belle Brockhoff into second in the overall World Cup standings.

The 21-year-old ended up 430 points clear of Brockhoff, but 680 behind Samkova.

Action in Veysonnaz is due to conclude tomorrow with the men’s and women’s snowboard cross team events scheduled to take place.
