World number two David Wagner of the United States retained his quad singles title at the Cajun Classic in Baton Rouge after defeating Great Britain's Andy Lapthorne in the final today.

The American took the opening set 6-3 in a repeat of last year's final at the wheelchair tennis tournament.

Today marked the fourth time since 2012 that the pair had met in the final of this event, with Wagner winning the last three.

Wagner, who won bronze at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and silver at London 2012 in the quad singles, secured his 12th Cajun Classic title 6-3, 7-6 when he clinched the match in a second set tiebreak.

Wagner and Lapthorne are set to meet again in tomorrow's quad doubles final as Britain's Antony Cotterill and Lapthorne take on the American duo of Nick Taylor and Wagner.

In the men's singles semi-finals, South Africa's Evans Maripa was beaten by Stefan Olsson.

The Swede was beaten in the semi-finals of this event last year but went one better this time after he claimed a 7-5, 6-3 success.

Olsson will now play top seed Alfie Hewett of Britain in tomorrow’s final.

The Rio 2016 silver medallist came from a set down to beat his doubles partner and third seed Maikel Scheffers of The Netherlands, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Hewett and Scheffers are set to compete in tomorrow's men's doubles final against the two other singles semi-finalists, Maripa and Olsson.

In the women's singles, Marjolein Buis of The Netherlands defeated third seed and Arizona Open champion Lucy Shuker of Britain 6-1, 6-4 to reach the final.

Buis' compatriot Aniek Van Koot, the tournament's top seed, also dropped just five games in her 6-2, 6-3 semi-final victory over fourth seed Katharina Kruger of Germany.

Following the women's singles final, Buis and Van Koot will come together for the women's doubles final tomorrow.

They will take on second seeds Shuker and Dana Mathewson of the US.
