Olympic champion Hasanboy Dusmatov was among the victors as Uzbek Tigers claimed a 4-1 win over Astana Arlans Kazakhstan in Group C of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) tonight. 

The Rio 2016 light-flyweight gold medallist topped the bill at the Universal Sport Complex in Tashkent, registering a unanimous points win over Temirtas to seal an impressive triumph.

Victory moves the Tigers to within three points of their opponents, who continue to lead Group C despite suffering their first defeat.

Light-welterweight Elnur Abduraimov set the hosts on their way to all three points by securing a unanimous points win over Dilmurat Mizhitov for his sixth WSB win in seven outings.

Abdulkhay Sharakhmatov won by the same method against Ilyas Suleimenov at bantamweight to double the Tigers' advantage before middleweight Israil Madrimov guaranteed the win with a 3-0 success over Saparbay Aidarov.

The penultimate bout of the night saw heavyweight Anton Pinchuk get the Arlans on the board before Dusmatov wrapped up a good night’s work for the Tigers.

In today’s other Group C clash, Russia’s Patriot Boxing Team secured a whitewash home victory over the China Dragons at the Martial Arts Palace in Kazan.

The Patriots took control of the match from the outset, racing into a 4-0 lead before Olympic heavyweight champion Evgeny Tischenko made his first WSB appearance since Season five to complete the 5-0 success. 

The win leaves them two points behind the Tigers, keeping them in the hunt for the second guaranteed play-off place.

Light-flyweight Tamir Galanov defeated He Junjun in the opening contest before European Games bantamweight champion Bakhtovar Nazirov ensured the Patriots’ second unanimous points win of the night with an assured display against Wang Long.

WSB debutant Aleksei Mazur made the three points safe, despite having to work hard for a split-decision win over Meng Caicheng at light welterweight, and the score the became 4-0 when 2015 EUBC champion Petr Khamukov made it 12 wins out of 13 at middleweight thanks to a dominant performance against Zhao Minggang,

Tischenko completed the whitewash with an impressive return to the WSB against Guo Jin in the final bout of the evening.

WSB action is due to continue next Thursday (April 6), when the British Lionhearts face France Fighting Roosters in a Group B decider at York Hall in London.

The following night in the same group, the Morocco Atlas Lions will play host to Italia Thunder at the Salle Omnisports Moulay Al Hassan in Oujda.
