Sweden's Kristoffer Zakarias Berg eliminated Rio 2016 bronze medallist Denis Kudla of Germany on his way to winning the greco-roman 85 kilograms title on the final day of the European Under-23 Wrestling Championships in Szombathely in Hungary.

Kudla fell to his Swedish opponent 2-1 in the semi-finals at the Arena Savaria, before Berg went on to clinch the gold with a dominant performance in the final, where he overcame Ruslan Yusupov of Russia 4-0.

Earlier in the day, Yusupov ousted two-time defending champion Lasha Gobadze of Georgia in the quarter-finals but he was forced to settle for silver after being outclassed in the gold medal match.

Gobadze recovered to win one bronze medal while Kudla put his disappointing semi-final performance behind him to claim the other.

In the 130kg category, Osman Yildirim of Turkey, the junior world silver medallist, prevailed against Mantas Knystautas of Lithuania 5-1.

Earlier in the day, Knystautas overcame Zviadi Pataridze of Georgia, a two-time cadet and junior world champion, but he was outclassed in the final.

Pataridze recovered to claim one bronze medal while the second was won by Norway's Oskar Marvik.

Roman Pacurkowski of Poland built on his bronze medal at the Paris Grand Prix earlier this year as he took gold in the 66kg competition.

Pacurkowski defeated Aslan Visaitov of Russia, a junior European Championships bronze medallist, 6-4.

Bulgaria's Tihomir Dimitrov and Serhii Kozub of Ukraine joined them on the podium as bronze medallists.

Antonio Kamenjasevic of Croatia failed in his bid to improve upon his silver medal from last year in the 75kg category as he was a beaten finalist once again.

European junior champion Zoltan Levai of Hungary claimed the gold with a 7-2 win.

Russia's Akhmed Kaytsukov claimed one of the bronze medals while the other was won by Belarus' Tsymur Berdyieu.
