Turkey's Kayra Sayit delighted the home crowd on the final day of action at the International Judo Federation (IJF) Grand Prix in Antalya, claiming the women's over-78 kilograms crown at the expense of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Larisa Ceric.

The 29-year-old, who started her judo career in France, scored a first waza-ari with a sasae-tsuri-komi-ashi after one-and-a-half minutes and then controlled the end of the final despite receiving penalties.

Victory earned hosts Turkey their first and only gold medal of the tournament and condemned Ceric, a bronze medallist at the 2016 World Masters in Mexican city Guadalajara, to the runners-up spot.

There were mixed fortunes for the home nation in the bronze medal matches as Kubra Kara won the first against Lithuania's Santa Pakenyte before Sebile Akbulut lost against Mongolia's Munkhtuya Battulga in the second.

The first of Russia's two gold medals today came in the women's under-78kg category, which saw Anastasiya Dmitrieva overcome Israel's Yarden Mayersohn in the final.

Dmitrieva clinched the win after producing an effort to engage a o-uchi-gari for a second waza-ari, immediately followed with an immobilisation for ippon.

Both of the bronze medals went the way of Kazakhstan with Zarina Raifova beating Uzbekistan's Kumush Yuldashova and Albina Amangeldiyeva getting the better of Portugal's Yahima Ramirez.

Russia's other gold medal was won by Adlan Bisultanov, who proved too strong for 2009 world champion Maxim Rakov of Kazakhstan in the men's under-100kg final.

Despite receiving a second penalty a few seconds before the end, Bisultanov retained the lead he had established and managed to see out the victory.

He was joined on the podium by compatriot Niyaz Ilyasov, who beat Uzbekistan’s Soyib Kurbonov in the second bronze medal match.

Elkhan Mammadov shared third place with Ilyasov after seeing off the challenge of the United Arab Emirates' Ivan Remarenco in the first.

The men's under-90kg and over-100kg competitions were also contested today with Mongolia's Altanbagana Gantulga winning the former and Czech Republic's Lukas Krpalek the latter.

With only two seconds of golden score left in his final with Tajikistan's Komronshokh Ustopiriyon, Gantulga registered a kata-guruma for a decisive waza-ari.

Russia's Magomed Magomedov beat Uzbekistan's Shakhzodbek Sabirov to the first bronze medal, while Serbia's Aleksandar Kukolj overcame South Korea's Jung Hae Joo in the battle for the second.

Under-100kg Olympic and world champion Krpalek triumphed in only his second appearance at the higher weight of over-100kg, defeating Kyrgyzstan's Iurii Krakovetskii in the final.

The bout appeared pretty even before Krpalek, a fifth-place finisher at February's IJF Grand Prix in German city Düsseldorf in his first appearance at over-100kg, cleverly utilised a small mistake from Krakovetskii to throw him with a o-uchi-gari for waza-ari.

The Czech followed this up with an immobilisation for ippon to seal success.

Russia's Musa Tumenov and Serbia's Zarko Culum secured the bronze medals with victories over Azerbaijan's Ushangi Kokauri and Turkey's Semih Adiyaman respectively.

Tumenov's medal was one of nine won over the three days of action by Russia, who topped the standings with four golds and five bronzes.

Kazakhstan came second with two of each colour, while Kosovo were third with two golds.

The IJF Judo World Tour is due to continue next month, with Russian city Yekaterinburg playing host to a Grand Slam on May 20 and 21.
