Rio 2016 Olympian Melissa Pagnotta has been named among the Canadian squad for the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) World Championships in Muju in South Korea.

The under-67 kilograms competitor is currently ranked number 11 in the world but lost her first round clash at August's Olympic Games.

She was beaten by South Korea's Oh Hye-ri, who went on to claim the gold medal.

Pagnotta was given a chance in the repechage competition but was again beaten, this time by Chuang Chia-chia of Chinese Taipei.

Canada have also selected Skylar Park for the World Championships.

She will compete at under-57kg after winning home gold at the WTF World Junior Championships in Burnaby in November.
