The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) have confirmed the postponement of the Lucerne Beach Volleyball World Tour event until September citing financial difficulties.

Financial difficulties have also forced the Fiji World Tour event to be cancelled, the governing body have stated.

The Lucerne competition was originally scheduled to be held from May 23 to 28, prior to the Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in Hamburg.

However, the financial difficulties of the event’s promoter have led to the FIVB moving the event to be part of the 2017 to 2018 series.

Competition is expected to take place in the Swiss city during September, with the governing body stating a date is yet to be confirmed.

The Fiji World Tour event had initially been scheduled to take place in January, but was postponed to June after heavy rain and flooding affected the country.

Action will no longer be taking place, with promoters stating they have a lack of funds to put the event on.
