Mexico's Manuel Larrañaga is to continue in his role as President of the Pan American Judo Confederation.

Larrañaga, also the head of the Mexico Judo Federation, was confirmed for another four-year term at the organisation's Congress in Panama City.

Twenty-seven countries were represented in Panama's capital, with the Congress also attended by International Judo Federation (IJF) President Marius Vizer.

The IJF's head sport director Vladimir Barta was another official present.

Juan Jose Paz of Bolivia has been appointed as the new executive vice president, with Canada's Michael Tamura moving from that position to general secretary.

Chile's Aquiles Gomez will remain as treasurer.

Three vice presidents were also confirmed for three geographical zones, with Panama's Estela Riley the representative for the north-central region.

Oscar Cassinerio of Argentina will represent the south with Dominican Republic's Gilberto Garcia serving for the Caribbean.

Other Executive Committee positions confirmed are Rafael Manso of Cuba as development director, Porfirio Garcia of Puerto Rico as education director, Haiti's Martin Telemaque as director of Olympic Solidarity, Ovidio Garnero of Argentina as sport director, Carlos Zegarra of Peru as director of administration and Jose Rodriguez of the United States as director of administration.

The Pan American region won two gold medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil in August.

The host nation clinched their first gold medal of the Games in the sport, with Rafaela Silva triumphing in the women's 57 kilograms class.

Argentina's Paula Pareto won in the women's 48kg division. 

Cuba and Colombia also won silver medals in Rio.
