The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has chosen IMG Replay to be its exclusive worldwide archive partner.

The four-year representation agreement will see IMG Replay - home to the world's largest dedicated sports library representing more than 40 of the leading sports governing bodies, federations and events - market more than 8,000 hours of clips and programming dating back to the Rome 1960 Paralympic Games to the present day.

The deal includes archive footage from the next two Paralympic Games, Pyeongchang 2018 and Tokyo 2020.

Coverage of World and European Championships from some of the 10 sports for which the IPC acts as the International Federation - athletics, powerlifting, shooting, swimming, Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country, ice sledge hockey, snowboard and wheelchair dance sport - is also included.

"We are looking forward to working with IMG to maximise the growing global interest in Paralympic sport," Alexis Schaefer, the IPC’s commercial and marketing director, said.

"Ever since the hugely successful London 2012 Paralympics, we have seen an exponential growth in the number of broadcasters and commercial organisations looking to utilise archive footage of Para-sport.

"IMG has a superb track record for delivering success in the marketing of archive footage and we believe this partnership will be of great benefit to all involved."

James Dobbs, director of rights and sales, IMG Replay, added: "The profile of disabled sport has never been higher, with the Paralympic Games growing into one of the largest international sports events on the calendar.

"We are delighted to have been entrusted by the IPC to market footage from their extensive library to broadcast platforms around the world."

IMG Replay's sports archive has over 400,000 hours of footage.

The division of IMG Worldwide has representation deals with the likes of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), football’s English Premier League, the Wimbledon tennis championships, golf’s The Open Championship, the International Volleyball Federation and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

A special commemorative emblem has recently been unveiled amid celebrations in Barcelona marking the 25th anniversary of the 1992 Paralympic Games.

IPC President Sir Philip Craven was among those present along with members of the organisation's Governing Board.

They were joined by representatives of Spanish and Catalan national and sporting authorities as well as Paralympians who competed at the Games.
