Germany's Annika Schleu and Ireland's Natalya Coyle won their respective women's qualification groups as action got underway today at the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) World Cup in Drzonków. 

Schleu scored 1,032 points in the Polish village to beat nearest challenger Francesca Tognetti of Italy by a margin of 15 points in Group A.

South Korea's Kim Sun-woo was a further one point back in third. 

In Group B, Coyle finished level with France's Elodie Clouvel with 1,006 points. 

Rounding out the top three was Lithuania's Lina Batuleviciute with 1,001 points.

The final is scheduled for Saturday (May 27).

Action in Drzonków is due to continue tomorrow with the men's qualification. 

The event is the fourth World Cup competition of the season.

It is the final opportunity for athletes to gain points to try and qualify for the World Cup Final in Lithuania's capital Vilnius from June 23 to 25.

The World Cup season began in Los Angeles, before Cairo and Kecskemét staged the second and third events.
