Hungary’s Daniel Bali and Riri Kitazume of Japan were crowned 2017 Aerobic Gymnastics World Cup series after their victories in Cantanhede, Portugal.

Bali took advantage of reigning men’s individual champion Mizuki Saito absence at the Sports Hall Os Marialvas as he outscored Brazil’s Lucas Barbosa and Bulgarian Antonio Papazov to take away the title from the Japanese gymnast.

The eventual winner scored 23.000 points, beating Barbosa by 1.100, while Papazov ended the competition on 21.850.

In the women’s individual, Kitazume scored 22.150 to finish 0.950 in front of Hungary’s Dora Hegyi while China’s Yu Yangyang took third place with 21.050.

The competition also saw action in the mixed pairs as defending champions Vicente Lli and Sara Moreno of Spain set themselves up with a chance of retaining their title in July when the series heads to Wroclaw, Poland with their victory in Cantanhede.

They scored 22.350 to come ahead of Japan’s Kitazume and Takumi Kanai, who got 22.150.

Yu earned a second bronze of the leg as she rounded off the podium with partner Hua Feiyang.

The trios competition was won by Russia’s Elena Ivanova, Ekaterina Pykhtova and Anastasiia Ziubina.

The overall groups title was secured by Bulgaria after they finished second behind Hungary in Portugal.
