Argentina's defending champion Gustavo Fernández claimed a comfortable victory over home favourite Nicolas Peifer in the semi-finals of the French Open in Paris.

Fernández, who beat Paralympic gold medallist Gordon Reid yesterday, confirmed his place in a second successive final at Roland Garros by defeating Peifer 6-2, 6-2.

Awaiting the Argentine in the final will be Great Britain's Alfie Hewett.

He defeated Shingo Kunieda of Japan, who eliminated men's second seed Stéphane Houdet of France yesterday, 6-4, 6-4.

In the women's singles reigning champion Marjolein Buis of The Netherlands saw her title defence come to an end.

She was beaten by Japan's second seed Yui Kamiji, who recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

The 2014 French Open champion will aim to win her second title in Paris against Germany's Sabine Ellerbrock.

She came through a hard fought semi-final with a 7-6, 7-6 victory against Aniek van Koot of The Netherlands, who defeated top seed and Paralympic champion Jiske Griffioen yesterday.

Despite their failings in the singles, the French duo of Peifer and Houdet made it through to the final of the men's doubles today. 

To the delight of the home crowd, they came from a set down to beat Kunieda and Sweden's Stefan Olsson 3-6, 6-2, 12-10.

They will now play Hewett and Reid in the final after the British pair beat Fernandez and his Dutch partner Maikel Scheffers 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.

In the women's doubles van Koot and Griffioen combined to reach the final.

The Dutch duo overcame Ellerbrock and France's Charlotte Famin 6-4, 6-4.

Awaiting them are Buis and Kamiji after they defeated Diede de Groot of The Netherlands and Britain's Jordanne Whiley 7-5, 6-1.
