Sambo world champion Dmitry Maksimov took on the role of instructor at a national seminar for coaches held in Italy’s capital Rome.

Representatives of seven regions of the host country took part in the event, which was organised by the the Italian Kickboxing Muay Thai Savate Shoot Boxe Federation (FIKBMS).

"Dmitry held an excellent seminar, exciting the curiosity of all the attendees, both coaches and athletes," Roberto Ferraris, chairman of the FIKBMS Sambo Committee, said.

"During the training, Dmitry demonstrated lots of high-profile standing and ground techniques.

"Besides that, Dmitry also gave young Italian sambo wrestlers some really tactical advice that will definitely prove useful during further competitions."

Ferraris, who also serves as secretary general of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), said similar seminars will be held under the guidance of Maksimov, FIAS' sports director, in the future.

"Such training has a very positive effect on the professional development of Italian sambo wrestlers and boosts their motivation at the same time," the Italian added.

Maksimov served as supervisor at a recent international seminar for coaches in Lithuanian city Šiauliai.

There were more than 20 participants at the seminar for coaches, representing Israel, Latvia, Lithuania and The Netherlands,

They received new information regarding the nuances of coaching.
