To conclude the event, a ceremony was held at the Ocean Theatre where Olympians from Hong Kong addressed the crowd.

Rower Lee Yuen Yin, windsurfer Michael Cheng Chun Leung and swimmers Stephanie Au Hoi Shun and Yvette Kong Man-yi all spoke about their sporting experiences and promoted Olympism.

The festivities marked the 20 year anniversary of Hong Kong becoming a special administrative region of China, following the hand-over from British control.

Olympic Day falls each year on June 23.

It commemorates the founding of the international Olympic Movement by Pierre de Coubertin in 1894.

The aim of the day is to spread the ideas of the Olympic Movement and promote participation in sport around the world.
