The event at the Airport Hotel in the Polish city is due to get underway tomorrow.

It is the penultimate competition of the season before the World Championships take place in Rome in November.

Yu, who won two silver medals at last year's Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, is targeting success in Warsaw as she continues to hone her preparations for the season's major event in the Italian capital.

She arrives at the competition having clinched gold in the women's épée event at the World Cup in Stadskanaal in The Netherlands in May.

"I had quite a long period of reduced training after the Paralympic Games, so the Stadskanaal event was my first World Cup after Rio," said Yu.

"I was feeling good in Stadskanaal with good preparation. 

"And I am even better prepared for Warsaw with my physical and technical training. I hope I will get a good result in Warsaw – as I always do at this World Cup.

“I have competed in Warsaw every year since 2002.

" I love this tournament, it is one of the best in the series - great hospitality and organisation of competition. 

"I am so looking forward to this year’s event.”

"As I prepare for the World Championships, the World Cups are a good chance for me to gain experience so I can have a better picture of my condition.

“I had a good start with medals so I think it is going to be a great season for me.”

The event in Warsaw precedes the World Championships in both the under-17 and under-23 age categories.

The competition in the under-23 age group runs from July 3 to 5, before the under-17 tournament is staged from July 6 to 7.
