British figure skater Jenna McCorkell has launched a high-performance sportswear line aimed at combating issues she experienced during her career.

The two-time Olympian revealed she had tried to find solutions to her sportswear rubbing or snagging when she was competing.

McCorkell opted to create sportswear after bringing her competitive career to a close following Sochi 2014, where she placed 25th in the ladies event.

"I have always been interested in sports clothing,” the 30-year-old McCorkell said.

"Especially because there were many things which annoyed me about my own skating sportswear.

"For example, I always disliked the way my blades cut holes in the fabric around the ankle - a problem I’m sure many skaters have experienced.

“I wanted to create leggings with cut-and-snag-resistant panels to prevent problems like this from occurring.

The 11-time British champion officially launched her company Chique Sport at the World Figure Skating Championships, which took place in Helsinki in March.

"Soon my idea became an entire collection, as I kept finding new ways to improve sportswear - for every skater but specifically women and children," said McCorkell.

"I worked for three years building my business plan, testing fabric, searching for the perfect manufacturer and putting my ideas into motion."

Chique Sport is an online store which offers women's and children's sportswear, with shipments being delivered worldwide.

McCorkell currently travels to global events to promote the range but remains a figure skating coach.

She is due to attend several National Ice Skating Association events in the coming weeks to further promote the products.
