Canada thrashed Hong Kong to continue their 100 per cent start to the defence of their Men's Softball World Championships title in Whitehorse.

The host nation were in formidable form once again as they comfortably dispatched their opponents 14-0 in Pool A at the Pepsi Softball Centre.

The result handed Canada their fourth consecutive victory at the tournament on home soil.

After a slow start, the home side exploded into life late on, scoring 10 runs in the sixth inning on their way to a comprehensive win.

Elsewhere in Pool A. Argentina swept aside South Africa 6-1.

The match was in stark contrast to Canada's contest with Hong Kong as Argentina scored their runs early before South Africa held firm later on.

The United States, who ran their North American rivals close yesterday, got back to winning ways as they breezed to an 11-0 victory against India.

The fourth inning proved crucial to the American team's success as the US scored six runs in a dominant performance.

In Pool B, the Czech Republic beat Britain 9-0 and Venezuela overcame Denmark 6-3.

Botswana were also in high-scoring form on the fourth day of competition as they crushed Turkey 21-0.

The match between Japan and New Zealand, two teams with unbeaten records so far, had to be postponed due to persistent rainfall.

Australia's clash with the Dominican Republic also fell victim to the adverse weather and both matches will resume tomorrow.
