Two Protector and Scoring Systems were donated to the Olympic Museum ©World Taekwondo

A signed Protector and Scoring System (PSS) used at last year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro has been donated to the Olympic Museum here by World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue.

The set of PSS had been signed by 28 taekwondo Olympic medallists.

This included Olympic champions Kim So-hui of South Korea, Cheick Sallah Junior Cisse of Ivory Coast and Ahmad Abughaush of Jordan.

Kim triumphed in the women's under 49 kilogram division, while Abughaush and Cisse took the respective men's under 68 and 80kg honours.

It came in a ceremony attended by World Taekwondo officials and Olympic Museum staff members, including director Francis Gabet.

The ceremony was filmed and will be featured on the Olympic Channel.

The PSS, which embeds electronic impact sensors in athletes’ protective trunk protectors, was first featured in official competition by in May 2009.

It formed part of an attempt to make judging more impartial and transparent. 

It made its Olympic bow at London 2012 before being used again in Rio 2016.

A PSS scoring system for head shots featured for the first time in the Brazilian city as well as for trunk protectors.
