Mark Hall won American gold as he defended his title at the United World Wrestling Junior World Championships in Tampere in Finland.

The United States wrestler triumphed as four freestyle competitions were held on day one at the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Center.

He triumphed by fall over Isa Shapiev of Uzbekistan in the men's 74 kilograms division.

Bronze medals were won by Iran's Mohammad Mottghinia and India's Veer Dev Gulia.

Dev Gulia clinched an 11-0 win over Turkey's Muhammet Kucukyildirim and Gulia was an 8-5 victor against Japan's Yajuro Yamasaki.

In the 60kg division, Russia's Abdula Akhmedov defeated American Mitchell McKee by fall for gold.

Iran's Yones Emamichoghaei saw off Albania's Eriglent Prizreni 10-0 for the first bronze, with Japan's Hiromi Sakaki beating India's Ravinder Ravinder 9-6 to also reach the podium.

Azerbaijan won the gold medal in the 50kg category.

Shahin Mukhtarov defeated Armenian opponent Karen Zurabyan in the final, 7-5.

Akbar Kenzhebek Uluu on Kyrgyzstan won bronze by defeating Russia's Aslan Minkailov by fall.

The second bronze medal went to Mongolia's Nasanbuyan Narmandakh, who defeated Kazakhstan's Rakhat Kalzhan 6-2. 

In the 96kg event, Russian Shamil Musaev ensured his country's second gold of the day as he got the better of Givi Matcharashvili of Georgia 7-2.

Bronze medals went to the US and Turkey.

American Kollin More won 11-0 against Germany's Ilja Matuhin and Turkey's Ibrahim Ciftci defeating Armenian Sargis Hovsepyan 7-0.

Freestyle wrestling will take centre stage again tomorrow, with competitions at 55kg, 66kg, 84kg and 120 kg
