Diede de Groot and Yui Kamiji have both progressed to the final of the women’s singles at the British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships.

Both came through their semi-final encounters today at the Nottingham Tennis Centre in straight sets.

De Groot, who won the title at Wimbledon last month, took on Germany’s Sabine Ellerbrock, the same player she beat to win her maiden Grand Slam women’s singles crown.

The second seeded Dutch player got the better of the opponent again as she claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

She will take on Japan’s Kamiji in the final.

If the four-time Grand Slam singles champion beats De Groot, it will be her second victory against a Dutch player in a row.

This is because the top seed’s semi-final opponent was Marjolein Buis.

Kamiji came through the clash with a 7-5, 6-4 win.

Tomorrow sees the men’s singles semi-finals, with Argentina’s Gustavo Fernandez taking on Frenchman Stephane Houdet along with an all-British tie between Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid.
