In a repeat of the final of last year’s Paralympics, Hewett got the better of his fellow countryman to win in three sets at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.

He took the opener 6-3 only to see Reid come firing back to claim the second 6-1.

Hewett, however, found his form again and secured his place in tomorrow’s final as he won the third set 6-3.

His opponent in the final of this UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour event and one of the most important tournaments in the world outside of the Grand Slams will be the top seed Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina.

The current world number one came up against Stephane Houdet of France in the semi-finals and recorded a straight sets 6-3, 7-5 victory.

It will not be the first men’s singles final that Hewett and Fernandez have met each other in this year, having done so at the French Open in June.

Hewett came out on top of this encounter, winning his maiden Grand Slam crown 0-6, 7-6, 6-2.

The women’s singles final will also be played tomorrow, with Dutch player Diede de Groot taking on Japan’s Yui Kamiji.

Houdet was able to gain some revenge over Fernandez later in the day as the Frenchman successfully defended his men's doubles title alongside fellow Frenchman Nicolas Peifer.

They had to come from behind to claim the title as they defeated Fernandez and The Netherlands' Maikel Scheffers 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

There was success for the Dutch in the women's doubles as De Groot and Marjolein Buis took home the title after winning 6-4, 6-3 against Dana Mathewson of the United States and South Africa's Kgothatso Montjane.

In the quad doubles final, American duo David Wagner and Bryan Barten were crowned champions after beating British pair Andy Lapthorne and Antony Cotterill 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
