Japan's Ayano Yuki claimed her country's third gold of the International Judo Federation Cadet World Championships in Santiago to cement their position at the top of the medals table.

With just one day of individual competition remaining, Japan lead the standings at the Santiago National Stadium with three golds, one silver and five bronze medals.

Russia are in second having earned two gold and two bronze medals.

Yuki continued Japan's success by winning the women's under-63 kilograms gold medal after she edged past Cadet Pan American Championships winner Gabriella Moraes of Brazil in golden score.

The first bronze medal was claimed by Mariam Tchanturia of Georgia while Germany's Annabelle Winzig sealed the second.

In today's second girls category, South Korea's Kim Juhee ended her country’s wait for a medal with a convincing victory.

Kim, who did not concede a single score in five contests, held down Poland's Natalia Kropska in the under-57kg final with a tate-shiho-gatame.

The first bronze medal was won by 16-year-old Cadet European Championships silver medallist Giovanna Fusco of Italy while Japan's Haruka Nakaya rounded out the podium.

In boys action today, Georgia's Lasha Bekauri turned his Cadet European Championships gold medal into a world title as he sealed a fourth competition victory in a row in the under-73kg competition.

Bekauri overcame Japan's Daiki Nakahashi, a former Cadet Asian Championships bronze medallist, in the final by ippon.

Russia's Armen Agaian and Muhammed Koc of Turkey shared the bronze medals.

Cadet European Championships bronze medallist, Moldova's Eugen Matveiciuc, won the heaviest weight category on day three.

He overcame Cadet Pan American Championships winner Agustin Gil of Argentina in the under-81kg final in golden score by a shido.

Benedek Toth of Hungary and Kazakhstan's Serikbolsyn Shyntas both took bronze medals.

Individual events are due conclude tomorrow, before mixed team competition brings the Championships to a close on Sunday (August 13).
