Russia upset defending champions Turkey with a 2-1 victory as action continued at the International Blind Sports Federation European Football Championships in Berlin today.

The Russian team ensured they got their Group B campaign off to a winning start at the Lilli-Henoch-Sportplatz with a surprise triumph.

Denis Egorov was the star of the show for Russia as he scored twice in the first-half to give his team a 2-0 lead at the break.

Hasan Satay had given 2015 winners Turkey hope as he halved the deficit in the dying stages, but it proved to be too little, too late as Russia held on.

In the other match in Group B, Belgium bounced back from their 7-0 mauling at the hands of Turkey yesterday with a narrow 1-0 win over Georgia.

The result gave Belgium hope of reaching the next round and condemned Georgia to their second defeat of the tournament.
