May 20 - Russia must finish top of the medals table at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, the country's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov (pictured right) warned today after being officially elected as the new President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

May 3 - Sochi plans to stockpile tonnes of snow in the build-up to the 2014 Olympics and Paralympics to ensure that they avoid some of the problems that overshadowed the Games in Vancouver earlier this year, the event's main official, Dmitry Chernyshenko (pictured), promised.








Medvedev threatens Russian sports officials with criminal charges over Vancouver performance

March 29 - Criminal charges could be brought against some of Russia's top sports officials if an investigation ordered by President Dmitry Medvedev (pictured) into how money provided by the Government was used to prepare athletes for the Vancouver Olympics, the country's worst ever Winter Games, discovers any evidence of corruption.
