Great Britain's double Olympic champion Jade Jones and South Korea's Tae-hun Kim will start as the players to beat at the latest leg of the World Taekwondo Grand Slam Champions Series event in Wuxi tomorrow.

Action will take place across the women's under 57 and men's under 58kg divisions at the Wuxi Taihu International Expo Centre in the last of four weekend competitions.

Jones, who won Olympic titles at London 2012 and Rio 2016, will be looking to tighten her grip on the category after only winning a bronze medal at last year's World Championships in Muju.

South Korea’s Ah-reum Lee and Turkey’s Hatice Ilgun are expected to be her biggest rivals this time around.

Lee beat Jones in the World Championship semi-final last year before defeating Ilgun in the final.

Kim is the favourite for the men's event after dominating the 2017 calendar year in a division lacking the reigning Olympic champion Zhao Shuai of China, who has moved up a weight category.

Russia’s Mikhail Artamonov and Spaniar Jesus Tortosa are other contenders as well as Iran's Farzan Ashourzadeh.

The Grand Slam Champions Series aims to professionalise and upgrade taekwondo's commercial appeal and media profile.

Unveiled and approved by the World Taekwondo Council in Muju last year, the series is invitational and will bring together 12 premier athletes in each weight category.

Each year, it will consist of eight separate tournaments to represent each Olympic taekwondo weight division - four men's and four women's.

The total prize money offered across the eight separate tournaments in the 2017-2018 series will be $760,000 (£565,000/€637,000).

The winner in each weight category will take home $70,000 (£52,000/€58,000).
